Elected Officials

The Adair County Fiscal Court is comprised of seven independently elected officials representing the citizens of Adair County on the Fiscal Court.  The Judge Executive is elected at large by residents of the entire county.  Each of the seven magistrates is elected at large by residents of the county. 

The Fiscal Court is responsible for numerous things for the county such as:

• Setting policy, enacting ordinances, resolutions, and approving the budgets for the county, jail, Clerk’s Office, and the Sheriff’s Department.
• Setting tax rates, budget amendments, management of the county’s money, setting salaries, hiring of county employees, roads, jail, recycling, animal shelter, 911 service, solid waste, and other services.
• Approval of bills to be paid that have been incurred by the county.
• Board appointments, purchasing of equipment for the county.

The Fiscal Court meets once a month, unless there is a need for a special called meeting or an emergency meeting.  Regular monthly meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. CST in the basement of the Adair County Annex Building.
